An Unsupported Grand'ish Tour

In October 2025, a select group of riders will embark on a six-day odyssey, starting in Stellenbosch and winding through the majestic Cedarburg mountains, across the Overberg, and finishing in the coastal town of Hermanus. Each day promises distances of 50 km to 250 km, with a single goal: to challenge every rider to their core. You’ll be relying on your own skills, instincts, and willpower to navigate these wild routes—no support, no safety net, just you and the road.

But don’t think of this as a race. This is an experience. A chance to pull into a local pub at the end of a brutal day, share a laugh with fellow riders, and savor the rewards of self-sufficiency. TranSubAfrica is an ultra-endurance bikepacking event, but we've crafted it into six manageable stages. This way, even if you're not one of the few who crave 4+ days of non-stop racing without sleep, you can still experience the world of ultra bikepacking. Each stage pushes you to your limits, but offers enough rest to recharge and truly appreciate the journey.

We’ve designed the route to keep it as authentic and raw as possible. Forget about luxury tents, banners, or support crews waiting at every turn. You’ll be navigating rugged gravel roads and remote trails, encountering only the raw beauty of the South African wilderness. It’s just you, your bike, and the adventure that lies ahead.
